Waiting for Civilization to Catch

Fire of Civilization

Spitting here

Waiting for the fire of civilization

To reach the shores of

This speck of blue marble

In the crooked corner of my universe

I begin to wonder if

The songs still linger

Which wake me stiff

In the middle of the night

Buckshot warnings

Red alert flags  the shadow of a smile

It is 4:38 am in Wayne County of mind

“Waiting, waiting for the Marines”

It’s 1979  light years of the mind

Fresh new meaning

With numbered bubbles

Of hideous faces to boots

Waiting for civilisation

To make it up the bend

In the back of my mind

It’s rapidly closing in

Like folding towers

Before a train crash

Mercks selling me placebos

On top of what

I got nothing left to hoe

And the planet’s beginning to waltz

In all directions ahead

Turn left at the poppy field

Before a petrol fire

Of the thermonuclear flavor

For nine cancerclouds

Or laser jolts of disappearance

To bestow against our faith

In the name of the light

Above lack of reason

But hang on

To your heart

Never mind

All tied in with a huge

War against free thought

They wanna put a stop to that

Okay never never mind now

But rally network against doubt

Invoice when in tune

Waiting for civilisation to catch

In the point of the heart

Of the flaming desire forward.
